I'm Abe Wolfgang, an Electrical Engineer, writer, Father, husband, and full-time lover of story. I blog about those stories, how they impact us as humans, and why they are important. Occasionally I write my own as well.

Work-Life Balance

Work and life. Two separate things right? That's how it feels right now at least, which is fine. It's not that I dislike my job, or that I think working in an office environment is bad. It's just not for me, and I've finally started to accept that.
I truly believe that life is too short to spend trudging along doing something that I am not absolutely fired up about. There is a place for hard work, but there is also something to be said about working hard for your dream. So, for now, I will continue to work hard, so that later I can work even harder on something that I truly love.
How does the work-life balance work? I am slowly learning that it is not easy. This is especially true with a new baby. All told, I probably have around 5-6 hours each day at home, but that is used up in family time, taking care of little Evan, and spending time with my wife. So I've found that it is difficult to squeeze in time to write, or to write blog posts (which is why there was nothing new from me last week, by the way).
So, what can you do? If you work full time, have small children, and also have a dream to pursue, I don't think that the answer is an easy one. You have to stay up later, get up earlier, or find creative ways to structure your work so that you can have more time to chase your dream. I will be trying a few things in the near future, and I will let you know what the outcome is.
I realize that this is a short post, I just wanted to let you know that I am still here, still trying to figure things out.
